3 Dry the wood. This can be on a warm, sunny windowsill or above a radiator overnight.

4 Place the bends on a flat surface and lay out how you want it to look. Mark where the surfaces touch with a pencil (this is important). Drill the holes for the dowels. I find it easiest to do this by holding or clamping the two pieces together off the edge of a table so I know they will definitely line up. Once you’ve finished drilling, clean up and sand. If wanted, this is your opportunity to shape the ends or edges if you are feeling sculptural. Sanding should be “through the grades and with the grain,” working from 120 grit to 240 grit and even finer if wanted.
